As an internationally recognized expert in behavioral intervention, threat assessment and mental illness, and instructional design, Brian (he/him/his) will bring you the information you need to better protect your school environment from harm. Author of over a dozen books, Brian has spent time as child and family therapist, university professor and a partner at a violence and sexual assault prevention law firm. He currently serves as the assistant deputy director of training at Secure Community Network which represents the safety and security needs of the Jewish Federation.

As an internationally recognized expert in behavioral intervention, threat assessment and mental illness, Dr. Brian Van Brunt is here to keep your school or organization safe and help at-risk individuals access the care they need. Brian is the Assistant Deputy Director of Training for Secure Community Network (SCN), the official homeland security and safety initiative of the organized Jewish community in North America. He oversees their training program and is involved in the assessment and instructional design of programs to keep the Jewish community safe from threat and violence. As the past president of the National Association of Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA) and the American College Counseling Association (ACCA), Brian brings his national perspective along with his experience as a counseling center director to provide consulting on issues of behavioral intervention, threat assessment, suicide prevention, diversity, equity and inclusion, site assessments, climate surveys and more. Having presented workshops, trainings and keynote addresses worldwide and authored over a dozen books, Brian is ready to speak to your group on a wide range of topics and can tailor his address to your needs. He will work with you and your organization to provide the information and training you need to maintain and safe and healthy community.
