Matthew Rust serves as the Director of Campus Career and Advising Services at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. In this role he coordinates campus-wide professional development, technology incorporation, and outcomes assessment within academic advising and career development. His professional background also includes 13 years teaching first year seminars and 3 years teaching employment law.
Admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2011 (currently inactive), Rust regularly presents on higher education law, has authored two book chapters on legal issues in advising, and wrote the NACADA Clearinghouse article: FERPA and its Implications for Academic Advising Practice. Rust currently serves on the editorial board of the NACADA Journal, on the advisory board for the Journal of Academic Advising, and on the Board of Directors for Indiana INTERNnet based at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
