Lifelong learning is paramount professionally. Blogs can capitalize as an efficient resource to stimulate topics for further investigation and development.

Professional development keeps employees sharp in their fields of expertise by helping them to be knowledgeable of trends that make a difference.

PD is very important to the health of the employee and for the employee. It’s a format to stay current with topics amongst your competitors and a avenue to feel valued from your employer. One hour seminars can be helpful, and the key is to put new knowledge into practice.

Professional development aka “training on how to do your job”, is absolutely essential for retention and job satisfaction. Blogs are useful for short answers and perhaps such as a forum, but I’m not sure I would consider that PD.

Professional development reinvigorates me and renews my excitement towards the profession. I would consider blogs a form of professional development though I’ve personally ever done it.

Profesional Development is essential in my field (I’m in education) because it is crucial to be up-to-date on current trends and statistics within the educational counseling field. Blogs are helpful to provide current knowledge and learn about new skills and tools within in my field.

Teaching computer programming, continual professional development is a critical part of the job. You have to be able to keep up with the changes.

Profession development is important for two reasons. It helps the individual to grow and improve and to become better at their profession. Secondly, it’s an indicator or how much an employer values their staff if they are willing to invest in them.
I haven’t ever blogged myself but reading blogs and generally engaging in social media discussions can be a useful form of development and great for finding contacts.

Professional development keeps us all updated on the latest findings, research, and techniques. This assists us in streamlining processes and providing a better experience for our students.

Professional development can be an effective way to introduce practical application of strategies that support the institution’s mission. It can also help to motivate team members, while allowing professional peers to learn from one another. While there is value in blogs, I do not consider them to necessarily be formal PD – yet, they can serve as a learning tool.

Blogs and other asynchronous trainings can be helpful for straightforward skill building or trainings. They lack the collaboration and often the ability to solve more advanced challenges, build teams, or establish relationships.

Blogs may be an informal source of information that is easily accessible to many and could be useful… I’ve never thought of them as a credible source for professional development, but it’s an interesting thought! I’d definitely be willing to check blogs out with that in mind.

We have a Professional Development Advisory Team and we run in to big questions about which activities are training, and what are Professional Development. We also find that it is really different for faculty and staff.

Education depends on continuous improvement and PD is a important tool to realize this goal.

Professional development is one valuable way to upgrade one’s field of knowledge. Employees that take advantage of professional development opportunities may feel more valued by employers.

I feel it blogs can be a public forum of information, but not necessarily professional development. I feel that others opinions are important as we grow, and can open doors to new opportunities for those included.
